Mitzpeh is the news source for the University of Maryland Jewish community. Mitzpeh chronicles events within the community, functions as a forum for members of the Jewish community to voice their opinions, and provides journalists-in-training with writing, editing, and photojournalism experience.

The Terrapin is the official yearbook of the University of Maryland. The first issue of the yearbook, entitled Reveille, was published in 1897 and was over 130 pages in length. The name changed to The Terrapin in 1935, and grew in size along with the campus. Today, it’s about 320 pages annually. Each issue of the yearbook is produced entirely by the students.

An Independent Voice …

Amid the political and social turmoil of the early 1970s, the University of Maryland saw the need to separate itself from the operations of its student publications. The political and social turmoil of the era led the student editors to become ever more independent and uninhibited in their criticism of the university administration as well as of the state and federal government.  In 1972, Maryland Media Inc. was established as an independent nonprofit charged with supporting the university’s official student publications.
